dopo aver recentemente cambiato nome (da Golf Environment Europe), l'organizzazione non-profit, "that believes that golf is uniquely placed to enrich people's lives and the environment, and that doing so makes for greater enjoyment and better business", avrà presto anche un nuovo sito. L'obiettivo è di condividere con il popolo della Rete studi e ricerche, destinati ad individuare e promuovere un modello di sviluppo sostenibile del golf (i percorsi in Europa sono oltre 6.000, estesi su 300.000 ettari per sei milioni di golfisti).
In particolare, nel sito sono specificati gli scopi che GEO intende raggiungere:

• To improve standards in land use planning and zoning for golf development;
• To help development control officials make more informed decisions;
• Better integration of environmental and social issues in golf development proposals;
• To support golf developers and architects in creatively designing courses that are enjoyable and fun to play;
• To facilitate collaboration with the environmental, government and scientific communities.

Il progetto è supportato da R&A, da European Golf Course Owners Association (EGCOA), da European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) e da European Tour.
